Seema Chaudhry is a Senior at Sequoia High School who demonstrates her passion for serving her community both in and out of school. She is a peer mediator who helps students resolve conflicts and coordinates school service events through her involvement with the Sequoia Key Club. As a member of the Sequoia Youth Advisory Board she has organized and presented peer education workshops on issues such as managing stress, developing healthy relationships, and youth depression. Through her membership on the Youth Oversight Committee of the Redwood City/North Fair Oaks Prevention Partnership she brought awareness about the dangers of “alco-pops” – juice flavored alcoholic drinks, which are sold at local corner stores and marketed to youth. Seema is not only a leader in the community, but also to her peers. She encourages and supports her fellow classmates, always seeking out to those who are shy to make them feel comfortable with the team, and knows how to balance her opinions by sometimes holding back her contributions, giving other students a chance to participate. She is an inspiring young woman with a bright future ahead of her.
