Josefina Enriquez

JOSEFINA ENRIQUEZ emigrated from the Philippines to the United States in 1967 as a single parent with two sons and a foreign medical degree. For the next four years she supported her family and studied to obtain her U.S. medical license, which she accomplished in 1971. In 1983 Josefina returned from New Jersey and set up a family practice in Half Moon Bay. She is Chairman of the Medical Staff at Seton Medical Center Coastside, member of the medical staff at Seton Medical Center, Daly City, and Mills Peninsula Hospital. She is an enthusiastic volunteer locally and internationally. As a Flying Samaritan, she volunteers at the Colonet Medical Clinic in Baja, CA. and is a supporter of the Islam Temple’s disabled children’s clinic and the Boy Scouts. Josefina has donated equipment and medicines to the Philippines through the sister Rotary Club in Manila, and was the first member of the club to be awarded Rotarian of the Year for their California district, in part for establishing the Coastside Rotocare Clinic, which provides free health care and medication to the peninsula coastside area residents. Affectionately called “Joy” in her community, Josefina is legendary for her generosity and always making people feel special.
