Kay Runkle

KAY RUNKLE organized and co-chaired the first Hunger Walk in San Mateo County in 1986 and continues to work on this project which raises about $10,000 every year. She serves with the Millbrae/San Bruno Community Contact Food Pantry and chairs the Millbrae division of SASH, a volunteer organization which shops for shut-ins. Working with the American Association of Retired Persons, she is a volunteer tax consultant for the elderly. She has received awards for her work in painting and photography, including one of three awards of merit given in 1989 at San Mateo County’s Second Annual Tribute to Older American Artists. For five years, she has been a volunteer caregiver and holder of power of attorney for a woman who is 105 years old and has no relatives in the United States.
