Agnes Tobin

Agnes Tobin was a poetess (1864-1939). Educated at Stanford University and widely traveled, Ms. Tobin was proficient in several languages including Latin and Greek. She was known for her scholarly work as translator of Renaissance and classic Greek prose. The famous Irish author William Butler Yeats acclaimed her “the greatest poet that America has produced since Wait Whitman.”
