Janet Hofmann

JANET HOFMANN is like a “weaver, quietly weaving the fabric of San Mateo County by connecting community members and leaders with the people, resources and information needed for individuals, groups and communities to grow and develop” according to her nominator. For the past 20 years, Janet has served as the Program Manager of the Peninsula Library System’s Community Information Program. CIP has grown under her leadership and become a model for other counties. She has also been instrumental in the creation of a number of broad-based work groups including the New Beginnings Coalition; Senior Information and Referral Network; Children’s Collaborative Action Team and the Welfare Reform (SUCCESS) committee. As co-chair of the New Beginning Coalition, she facilitated the development of a comprehensive five-year plan for services to seniors and people with disabilities which still serves as a guiding force today. She has been a board member of a number of non-profits too numerous to list. Janet has presented the Rose Taylor Award from the Child Care Coordinating Council in 1982 for providing the leadership 4Cs needed to grow and become the key child care agency in San Mateo County. She is a true steward for the community.
