Joan Baez

Through her gift of song, JOAN BAEZ has touched the lives of many and raised awareness of the human condition worldwide. In the ‘60s, she went on concert tours in the South under a strict nondiscrimination policy. Shortly thereafter, she was the subject of a Time cover story. Ms. Baez founded Humanitas International in 1979 and continues to serve as the President of this non-profit, non-partisan, human rights organization which is based in Menlo Park. She was awarded honorary Doctor of Human Letters degrees from Rutgers University and Antioch University, and has earned 8 gold albums and a gold single during her musical career. Ms. Baez was married to David Harris and has a son, Gabriel. Her parents live in the Bay Area.
