JANE BAKER’s role as chair of the Metropolitan transportation Commission of the San Francisco Bay Are followed more than twenty years on the San Mateo City Council, six of those as mayor. Other public offices include: chair of the San Mateo County Transportation Authority; National League of Cities Advisory Council and Board of Directors; board member and state president and chair of the Intergovernmental Relations Committee of the League of California Cities; State Job Training Coordinating Council; City/County task Force on Transportation; Comprehensive Education and training; vice chair of the Council of Mayors of San Mateo County; North San Mateo Council of Cities chair; Association of bay Are Governments. She is also a founding member and past director of the California Elected Women for Research and Education; the American Association of University Women; the league of Women Voters; the Women’s Association of the First Presbyterian Church; the Coyote Point Museum Auxiliary; and the Commonwealth Club.
