Over the past 20 years, MRS. CATHERINE SMALLWOOD-MURCHISON, Ph.D., has exemplified women helping women and women taking risks. She founded the Cindy Smallwood Foundation 1973 in honor of her late daughter. The Foundation promotes education, health and welfare in the community through scholarship grants to medical students, counseling services, a 24 hour crisis line and production of television documentaries in the area of medical education. Mrs. Catherine Smallwood-Murchison served as Executive Director and Assistant Director of the San Mateo County Head Start Program.
