Fran Hoffman

FRAN HOFFMAN of San Mateo. Ms. Hoffman co-founded the San Mateo Alliance for the Mentally Ill- the first volunteer family support and advocacy non-profit organization for parents, relatives, and friends of the severely and chronically mentally disabled in the United States. She was a key influence in the establishment of over 50 affiliates in California and the development of a state organization, California Alliance of the Mentally Ill (CAMI). Ms. Hoffman worked hard to help Mateo and Dexter Lodge and Cordilleras Hospital. She was also instrumental in the organization of the National Alliance of the Mental Ill, based in Washington D.C. (NAMI).
