Carolyn Norr

CAROLYN NORR, a senior at Aragon High School, has served on the City of San Mateo’s Citizen’s Review Committee since its inception a year ago. This committee, composed of ten San Mateo Leaders, including representatives from business, homeowners and human resource communities, gathers residents’ concerns through public hearing, surveys and testimony, examines the impacts of social services and residential care facilities, and makes problem-solving recommendations to the City Council. At Aragon, she founded and for three years has c0-chaired the King Center Thanksgiving food drive. For Two years she has been the Cultural/Community Commissioner, recently arranging for a multi-cultural mural at the school. She tutors grade school students one a week and has been a counselor at the San Mateo outdoor education program. She is involved in environmental issues and works with the Youth for Understanding and the YMCA world camp programs, promoting international awareness. She has received numerous academic awards, including recognitions as outstanding student in both English and Social Studies.
