Meghan Ryan

MEGHAN RYAN is described by her peers as a “team player” with “awesome drive.” This young woman is dedicated to her academics, athletics and Special Olympic coaching. She maintains a nearly perfect grade point average, taking Honors and Advanced Placement classes in English, math and science. Swimming since she was six, she takes her passion seriously and is currently training for the Junior Nationals. More than winning races, her fabulous spirit helps promote team unity and she brings professionalism to high school sports. While Meghan has won numerous awards in swimming along with being recognized for her academic achievements, she still makes time to coach and support adults training for Special Olympics, volunteering 200 hours during her Junior year. Meghan recruited three other students who coached with her every Saturday for six months for three hours. Meghan attended the Games with her athletes where they won two Gold Medals. Using her leadership abilities and compassion, she plans to train at team for the 2000 Special Olympics. Meghan has also tutored special education students and has worked fund-raisers for the Adult Day Care Center for the Elderly, and recently, she helped build a house in Mexico. Megan’s upbeat spirit, optimism and friendliness on top of her academic and athletic talents bring pride to Hillsdale High School and to her entire community. She is a fantastic role model for young and old alike.
