Jeanie McLoughlin

JEANIE MCLOUGHLIN has had a profound impact on the lives of children, families and early childhood professionals throughout San Mateo County according to the San Mateo County Consortium for Quality Programs. To be near her own children, she left a successful business career and began working as a teacher’s aide in a non-profit child care center where her children were enrolled. In the evenings Jeanie studied child development at Cañada College and ultimately became Director of Excursions in Learning, successfully integrating children with disabilities into the program. Jeanie also completed her degree in Early Childhood Education. In December of 2003, she became the first person in her family to achieve a degree in higher education, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Administration. After working in Resource & Referral unit of the Child Care Coordinating Council, Jeanie went to the San Mateo County Office of Education as coordinator of the newly legislated Child Care Partnership Council, modeling collaborative leadership and planning for child care in San Mateo County. Jeanie was awarded the San Mateo Association for the Education of Young Children’s Professional Achievement Award in 2000 for her tireless support to professionals. Jeanie is the linchpin in the child care and early education community of San Mateo County, holding together many elements of a truly complex industry.
