Fiona Kathleen Murphy

Fiona Kathleen Murphy, a senior at Hillsdale High School and multi-talented youth leader with a passion for community service is a distinguished scholar/athlete, award winning Irish Dancer, vocalist with Honor Chamber Choir and Viva La Musica, youth leader at St. Bartholomew Church and the youngest participant to ride the Cinderella Classic 100K Bike Ride raising funds for battered women. She is actively involved with Varsity swim team, achieving MVP in 2009 an Active leader in her church youth group, Fiona always makes time to hear others and leads by example.

During five-day Neighbors in Action youth group trip to Yakima, Washington where she was working to paint an elderly woman’s home in a rural farming community, Fiona emerged as a leader. She stayed on task and maintained a positive attitude despite temperatures near 100 degrees and coming physically ill, nonetheless continuing to direct others in a respectful way so that they could meet their deadline. The experience of working among people with few amenities enhanced her perspective that developing meaningful relationships with others is more valuable than material possessions. Fiona is a talented, outgoing and genuinely compassionate young woman with an interest in broadcast journalism who has a very bright future ahead of her.
