PASTOR HATTIE BOSTIC and seven members, in 1963, founded the Mt. Olive A.O.H. Church of God which has grown to a congregation of more than 200 and is building a new church in the Belle Haven area of East Menlo Park. In 1968, she founded the Crime Prevention Narcotics Drug Education Center (CPNDEC) and has worked with programs involving youth awareness, crime prevention, neighborhood watch, homeless assistance and prevention of bicycle theft. She has served as a member of the Belle Haven Advisory Board, Ravenswood City School District Task Force, and the Board of Directors of Drew Medical Center. Recognition of her community service includes the Alfred Brooks Memorial Award, the Eagle Award from Concerned Citizens, as well as a commendation from the FBI. Her Hall of Fame nominator says that she is “simply the most beautiful and courageous person I know.”
