LISA MARJORIE COAR has excelled at Burlingame High School in academics, athletics, student government and community service. She has a 4.0 grade average, is on the tennis team and is the student body liaison to the Burlingame Humans Relations Commission and the district student representative to the San Mateo Union High School Board of Trustees. She is active in the Black Student Union and during International Week, she organized “Culture in the Classroom,” bringing together cultural clubs to conduct a workshop to promote appreciation of cultural diversity on campus. She volunteers with latchkey children at Turnbull Center and as a food sever for the homeless and has been a volunteer for the YMCA’s annual sustaining campaign and in the re-election campaign of Congresswoman Anna Eshoo. She was the Girl’s State Delegate, a National Achievement semi-finalist, and received both the Edward Teller Award for Academic Excellence and the Xerox Humanities and Social Science Award.
