Lisa Chan of Daly City is a Senior at St. Ignatius College Preparatory High School in San Francisco whose achievements include not only academics but also creating her own non-profit organization that works to improve education through arts and leadership training. “Bay Area Strive” seeks funding from large companies to fund scholarships and grants to local public schools. Lisa also leads drives to raise money for school supplies and stages fundraisers to raise awareness of the need for public school support.
She has provided more than 1,000 hours of community service at Seton Medical Center, On Lok Senior Center, Lake Merced Library, the St. Anthony Foundation and other organizations. Currently enrolled in six advanced placement courses as well as evening college classes, Lisa has been a Junior Statesman and is recognized in Who’s Who Among High School Students. She offers free violin lessons on Sundays. Currently editor of her school yearbook, she hopes to publish her first novel this summer on her 18th birthday.
Lisa believes in seizing every opportunity to learn and to lead. She serves as president of the California Scholarship Foundation, plays violin in the school orchestra and serves as Miss San Francisco Outstanding Teen. This energetic young women’s outstanding achievements foretell a bright future of contributions to our community and our world.
