JUDY KING has quietly participated in the positive development of her Belmont community for the past 25 years. She is the epitome of what the term “volunteer” is all about. In 2000, when Mayor Terri Cook helped present her with the prestigious Belmont Chamber of Commerce William Chapman Ralston Award for service to the community, she did it to the song “I’m Just a Girl Who Can’t Say No.” Judy has served on the task forces for: Belmont Open Space, San Juan Canyon, Downtown Belmont, and Belmont Library and Grade Separation, all to help determine the look and quality of the Belmont environment. She served as PTA President of Cipriani School, served on the Civic Facilities Committee and Library Bond Campaign Committee. She is a past Board Member of Kollage Community School for the Arts, and co-chaired Belmont’s 75th Anniversary Committee. She served as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner for 12 years. Judy has belonged to the Belmont Park Boosters for 25 years, serving as President for more than 20 of those years. Park Boosters produces “Concerts in the Park”, an event that generates thousands of dollars for park improvement and is now emulated in several other communities.
