Jeanine Ashe is a committed leader passionate about promoting youth literacy and development across San Mateo County. She has been an active volunteer board member with Coastside Children’s Programs (CCP) since 2005, where she has exemplified remarkable leadership skills by reaching out to the community and advocating the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn skill development. Jeanine grew up in a single parent household, where books and reading changed her life. Her determination led her to obtaining a Master’s in Library Science, and is now changing people’s lives through work she loves to do. She goes over and beyond what is required of her and has shown great dedication to everything she has been involved with. She has been involved in numerous programs with the San Mateo County Library, a few programs include: Raising a Reader, where Jeanine has offered annual trainings for child care providers to promote literacy in the classroom; Literacy Breakfast, an annual community forum program that raises awareness of current literacy topics; and Food for Fines, a program initiated and managed by Jeanine to clear library fines in exchange for food donated to a Food bank, which totaled $31,000 in food collected. These are just some of the outstanding work Jeanine has been a part of. All of her projects and programs have made significant differences in the lives of youth and families across the County.
