FRANCES B. NELSON directed the $45 million renovation and expansion of the San Mateo Hillside Shopping Center which presently houses 150 retail stores, employing 1,500 people. She also manages Bohannon Park, a 350-acre development in Menlo Park. Under her direction, the Bohannon Development Co. and the Bohannon Foundation have been major contributors to such community organization as Easter Seal, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, the 4-H Scholarship Fund, Poplar Center, Kainos Home for Mentally Retarded Adults, and Camp Glenwood. She is a trustee emeritus for Santa Clara University and was recently cited as Volunteer of the Year by the San Mateo County Volunteer Center
