Cheryl Lnn Synclair

Cheryl Lynn Sinclair has been an integral force in improving health care quality and access throughout San Mateo County, especially in its coastside communities. Her myriad leadership positions over the past 22 years have enabled her to make a significant impact in the lives of countless beneficiaries throughout the county. Currently the Director of Community Outreach for the Coastside Adult Day Health Center in Half Moon Bay, she is a dedicated advocate of the elderly and developmentally disabled, raising awareness of their needs and the challenges they face daily. She works hard to fundraise and come up with creative solutions to sustain the organization in the midst of regular cuts to funding. As Chair of the RotaCare Coastside Clinic’s Advisory Council and its chief fundraiser, Cheryl has secured substantial additional funding for the clinic, as well as donations of medical equipment and other supplies. Without her contributions, the Clinic could not sustainably provide over 1,200 patient visits per year to those without medical insurance. Her creation of the award-winning “Movin’ on the Coast” has given coastside residents the opportunity to try free exercise programs and classes with participating gyms and fitness providers. She has improved the lives of coastside youth through her work with the Cabrillo Unified School District, organizing “fishbowl” discussions with youth on health topics, and through her development and coordination of the “Teddy Bear Clinic,” an annual event that helps children overcome their fears of visiting the doctor or hospital. Cheryl does all this and much more, inspiring others to join her in this essential work to improve health care access and the lives of coastside residents on a daily basis.
