CATHERINE McCANN of Hillsborough. Ms. McCann has spent much of the last 50 years as an advocate for international peace. She been a member of the San mateo County Freeze peace Action and is an authority on the issues of international conflict resolution and social justice. She has traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with member of Congress to lobby on behalf of issues targeted by peace and justice groups in the Bay Area. Ms. McCann currently serves as a Board member of the American Civil Liberties Union. She began her career as a social worker for the Sate Relief Administration in the 1930’s, and later worked as a psychiatric social worker for the County of San Mateo and Planned Parenthood. MS. McCann’s educational background included a bachelor’s degree earned at UCLA in 1936 and a Masters in Social Work at UC Berkeley in 1959.
