ALICE P. BULOS, former chairperson of the Department of Sociology at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, the Philippines, has received many awards for community service in the Bay Area. She was named Woman Warrior of the Year in 1987 by the Pacific Asian Women Bay Area Coalition and has been honored by the Asian Foundation for Community Development. She was awarded the Outstanding Community Leadership Service Award by the California Asian/Pacific Democratic Council and is the Northern California Coordinator of the Filipino-American Democratic Caucus. She serves as a member of the board of Health Commission for San Mateo County. Her areas of volunteer service include equal rights in employment, housing, crime prevention, youth and senior citizens. In 1981, she was a member of the Governor’s Bay Area Round Table of Women’s Organization focusing on Women’s issues.
