Terry Nagel as been a community leader since 1985, organizing residents, volunteering in local schools and serving 12 years on the Burlingame City Council, including three terms as mayor. Her work has emphasized civic engagement, government transparency, emergency preparedness, equity and sustainability. Nagel organized residents to address chronic power outages through Burlingamers Unwilling to Live with Blackouts (BULB), prompting $5 million in infrastructure investments and significantly reducing outages. Since 2019, she has served as chair of Sustainable San Mateo County, where she helped develop the county’s first Sustainability Dashboard and Ideas Bank and expanded the organization’s capacity and partnerships
