Ashley Yates is an achiever well beyond her years. She maintains a 3.7 grade average in advanced study courses at Capuchino High School. She is president of the Associated Student Body, was president of her junior class and secretary during ninth and tenth grades. Ashely is vice-president of Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service club, and is a member of Junior Statesmen of America. She volunteers for the Human Society and has been a peer tutor for four years at Capuchino. She played violin with the San Bruno Youth Orchestra, has organized activities for homecoming, runs the annual blood drive and fundraising walk-a-thon and served on the school’s leadership team. She has been active in high school track and swimming. All this, while facing challenges that could easily conquer someone twice her age. Ashley and her sister, Madison lost their father five years ago, and the family spent a long period living from shelter to shelter. Ashely is known as the “glue” that holds this family together with love and dignity during difficult times. It’s no surprise that she has chosen a nursing career. Ashely is a generous and extraordinary spirit, truly a Young Woman of Excellence.
